What Is The Purpose of the Church?
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. - 1 Corinthians 10:31
Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name. - Psalm 29:1-2
The Purpose of the Church and all creation is to Glorify God.
What is the Vision of the Church?
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth...and I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband....And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” - Revelation 21:1-5
The Vision of the Church is to see Heaven on Earth.
There is brokenness in this world, but all that is broken will be restored when God's King, Jesus Christ, returns to make all things new by establishing the Kingdom of God. While this Vision will not be completely and finally fulfilled until Jesus returns, His Kingdom work becomes visible in us and through us, when even as broken people we bow to King Jesus as Lord so that the grace of His rule in our lives transforms every aspect of who we are and what we do.
What Is The Mission of the Church?
The Great Commission says this: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them… and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you." - Matthew 28:19-20
The Mission of the Church is to Make Disciples, Baptize Them, and Teach Them to Obey.
The mission is to make disciples who obey God, obedience includes obeying the Great Commission command to make disciples. Therefore, we must Make Disciples who Make Disciples!
